CHARACTERS:
RICHARD– Peer Coach / Incarcerated Male
Male, late 20s–60s+, any ethnicity. Currently incarcerated and serving in a peer support role related to substance use recovery. Calm presence, emotionally grounded, observant, and believable as someone who has lived through addiction and incarceration. Looking for authenticity and emotional depth more than polished acting energy.
DJ– Incarcerated Male/history of substance use and/or mental health challenges
Male, late 20s–60s+, any ethnicity. Guarded, hardened, emotionally layered. Someone struggling with trust, vulnerability, or substance use issues. Must feel believable within a correctional setting and able to carry naturalistic dialogue.
Requisitos: Requirements: PROJECT: This project is being produced as part of a peer support training for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. The goal is to create something more emotionally honest and cinematic than a traditional training video — grounded in realism, human connection, and authentic conversation. The scene is a 5–7 minute dialogue-driven interaction between two incarcerated men. One character is currently serving as a peer recovery coach supporting others with substance use and recovery inside the facility. The conversation centers around trust, lived experience, survival, addiction, and change. One important note: emotional authenticity and vulnerability are much more important to us than delivering every line exactly as written. We want the performances to feel real and human, not overly polished or scripted. Actors should feel free to make the dialogue their own, improvise naturally, and respond in ways that feel emotionally honest to the character and scene.
